Christmass with dogs

Yesterday I visited my family. I took my dog with us. I guess it was a little too much for him. Poor Chucky was up all day, something he’s not used to. That dog is rather couch potato kind. He sleeps most of the day and watches tv. Just like my kittens. But not yesterday, yesterday he had to be up almost entire day, playing with my aunt’s German Sheppard. But later that night he slept like a baby. Today he still recovers from yesterday. And I’m watching tv all day. Some nice winter sports. I can’t wait until Olympic Games, I always liked to spend my spare time watching winter Olympics.

Dutchess rail trail

I just came back from 3.5 mile walk. I’m really tired. My dog, Chucky will be sleeping like a baby tonight. I need to bug my husband a little more to buy new bikes. Trail is really awesome, it’s a really good way to kill some time.

Kittens have new friends

I brought home two baby squirrels today. They were found in a chimney, so they would die, without a doubt. So I decided to foster them, until they are old enough to live outside. I was worried, that my kittens would try to kill them but instead they were more curious than vicious. Squirrels got fed already and are sleeping now. I hope my kittens won’t bother them too much.

Movie star

A few day ago I had a pleasure to meet a movie star. He was a patient in a hospital that I work. It was a rat. I don’t know what movie he played in but he was rather cute. I’ll put some pictures in gallery soon. I wonder how my kittens would react to a rat. Movie star or not, he probably wouldn’t live long with my monsters :)

My kitty is rough on my dog

Yesterday I was cleaning kittens litter box. After taking the top lid off, Toby run under it. He likes to hide there every time I take it off. Sometimes my other kitten, Kiwi goes under it too, and sometimes, my dog, Chucky follows. This time Chucky must have thought it was Kiwi and he went under it after Toby. Suddenly I heard very loud squealing. My kitten was beating the crap out of Chucky. He run out with bleeding nose. And Toby after him. That cat will not pass an opportunity to kick my dog’s ass. For the rest of the day Chucky was avoiding that kitty like the devil. Next time he will think twice before following kittens under the litter box lid.

When kittens talk

When Johnson was younger and we didn’t have other pets he loved to talk. That little kitten was really loud. At some point he was hungry and I didn’t want to get up from bed to feed him, he sat on me and said “hello” :) Of cource he got his food right away.

Just recently he said “mama”. But this time he wasn’t begging for food. I guess he just loves to talk. But the funniest moment so far, was when he sat on my bed and was giving a speech for about ten minutes. My other kittens, Toby and Kiwi, and my dog Chucky were sitting on the floor looking up at my oldest kitten and they all listened to what he had to say. I thought I wouldn’t stop laughing. My kitten was acting like a university professor :)

Spaying a kitten

Kiwi was spayed two days ago. She recovered remarkably fast. She was brought home yesterday. I thought that this poor little kitten would still be in pain and unwilling to play. Nothing could be further from the truth. She was ready to play, after all, she is still just a kitten.

I choose to spay and neuter my pets. Kittens overpopulation is really serious problem and I don’t want to contribute to it. In addition non-spayed female kittens and cats are at much higher risk of getting uterine, ovarian or mammary cancer.

Baby raccoons, sweeter than kittens

I recently had a chance to play with baby raccoons. They are much cuter than cats. In fact, I’d love to have them as my pets. Too bad that law prohibits any wild animals from being home pets. I guess I have to stick with my kittens.

When kittens go bad

My youngest kitten sometimes can be a real monster. She doesn’t realize yet, that using her claws actually hurts. For some reason she turns on playstation mode in the middle of the night. Sometime I wake up and all I can see is my little kitten over my head purring really loud. Other times I feel something is pulling my hair, that’s Kiwi again. Yet, the worst thing, my little kitten is still to small to jump on me, so she jumps as high as she can and grabs whatever she can. Most of the time it’s my face, sometimes it’s my back. So I wake up in the morning with kittens marks on my face. I need to get a sleep mask, otherwise my kitten might one day do something really bad.

My latest foster kitten

I recently fostered a little kitten. Her name is Kiwi. We decided to keep that kitten. She is all black, with a tiny white don on her throat. Actually that kitten is really dark brown with black patterns, she looks a bit like leopard. From the day we brought her home we knew that kitten was special. She was our first foster kitten that started using our cats litter box. Other kittens we fostered in the past were using cardboard trays.

Kitten was accepted by older cats

Kiwi was also the only kitten, that Toby and Johnson accepted within a few hours. They let her use their water bowl, eat their food and use their litter box. One of the first days she was here she started grooming Toby. At that time I knew I would keep that kitten. When she was sitting on her back and wiggling her front paws she looked more like a teddy bear that a kitten.

Chucky meets little kitten

Kiwi really quick adopted to dog presence. She started playing with him like with our cats. Chucky acted like that kitten was his younger sister. He was really protective and any time older cats would play too rough with her and she started crying he would always stepped in and turned our attention.  At that point we knew we had a new kitten.

Kittens love snakes

Yesterday Kiwi finally noticed snake presence. It was snake’s feeding time. That little kitten was ready to rip the snake apart. I wonder what she is going to do when she’s able to jump on the dresser, where snake’s terrarium sits.
